AMDC Supports Black Lives Matter

American Muslim Democratic Caucus in a statement expressed complete support for Black Lives Matter movement. The BLM movement which calls for justice. and valuing human lives reconciles with our fundamentals.

American Muslim Democratic Caucus Co-Chair. Syed Fayyaz Hassan said that “The human rights violations of black community in America is a very essential issue of our country to be addressed. We can not talk of any issue until this one is addressed”

American history is full with resolutions of immoral positions to develop into greatest democracy in the world. Our people have struggled throughout for voting rights, Jim Crow, LGBT rights, minority rights etc. However, we are not a democracy until we are nation of equal justice. We are not a Republic until we are nation of laws applied equally to all people. American blacks struggle against Police brutality is not only issue of police high handedness but a moral dilemma for our nation.

American society will not move forward without valuing black lives equal to other lives in the nation. Police brutality is just a symptom of inherent social bias prevailing in the society against black community.

Lives of Black Americans also reflect on issues of justice around the world as Palestinians are struggling against injustice and occupation. Israeli IDF forces have no regards for humanity and respect for human lives. Kashmiris in India are facing similar struggle of occupation against brutal occupiers. Rohingya Muslims, people of Yemen and of Syria and Viegers in China are also facing the dilemma of human rights violations.
